Fireweed Plumbing & Heating Ltd. operating as Fireweed Home Comfort is hiring 2 permanent, full-time Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanics in Whitehorse, Yukon (NOC 72402).

Wage: $37.50/hour
Hours: 40 hours/week
Start: As soon as possible
Location: On site in Whitehorse and surrounding areas.

Duties:
Install, service, maintain and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration and heat pump systems. Read blueprints and work orders; lay out installations; install and service compressors, condensers, evaporators, controls, motors, fans and pumps; cut and connect piping/tubing using soldering and brazing; start up systems and test for leaks; charge, recover and handle refrigerants; troubleshoot HVAC/refrigeration and electrical/electronic controls; replace defective components; adjust controls and thermostats; perform preventive maintenance; maintain service records; provide customer service; follow safety, manufacturer and industry requirements.

Education:
Secondary school graduation certificate required. Relevant HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, apprenticeship, trade or college training preferred. Equivalent Canadian or foreign qualifications will be considered.

Experience:
3 years to less than 5 years of relevant HVAC, refrigeration, heating, air conditioning or related mechanical/electrical experience.

Requirements:
Valid driver’s licence required. HVAC/refrigeration trade or apprenticeship certification, including equivalent foreign qualifications, is an asset. Must comply with applicable Yukon trade, safety and environmental requirements.

Work conditions:
Physically demanding work, handling heavy loads, bending, crouching, kneeling, standing for extended periods, indoor/outdoor work and travel to customer sites.

Job Duties:

• Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems
• Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes and fixtures in walls and floors
• Cut opening in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings
• Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing and welding equipment
